Abakus Turquoise and Python Necklace-Abakus designer, Marsha Chun-Matsubara, designed her first jewel after an accident. When she broke the abacus her mother had given her to learn some math, she strung the beads into a necklace. Years later, Chun-Matsubara named her company (with some inventive spelling) in honor of this happy mishap. An ingenious use of materials is still part of her repertoire. Check out the mix of turquoise and python in this magnificent necklace. Marsha’s mother may have been trying to veer her daughter into the business world with that abacus but she ended up with a creative force. I am sure she is very proud. You can count on that.
